Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A resurgent the Russian player won his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.
Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since spring of that year.
Victory also signifies he has won 21 titles at 21 distinct events.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
His retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.
Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent saved four early chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
