Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
An important official commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
